The Organisational Committee of the Russian Charity Ball in Luxembourg has announced that this event will not go ahead on Saturday 5 March 2022 as planned, in light of the escalating Russia-Ukraine crisis.

The organisers (Russian Club in Luxembourg) took to social media on Thursday 24 February 2022 to announce that due to current circumstances, "it would be impossible to hold a Charity Ball". They also stressed that they are "not a political organisation", adding that their "only goal is helping sick and needy children".

Nevertheless, the Organisational Committee expressed its shock at recent developments: "We are very worried and concerned about the current political circumstances in Europe. We are shocked by what is happening, just like the rest of the world! The events of the last hours have jeopardised all our efforts to organise a charity ball".

The committee asked for patience from people who had planned to attend this year's Russian Charity Ball whilst it comes up with "the best solution in this situation". An official cancellation or postponement of this event will be announced in the coming days, although the organisers must first "calculate the incurred costs in the organisation of the event". They added: "All funds raised (minus expenses) will be transferred to the SOS Village d’Enfants, Sunflower and Vera charitable foundations".

In the past nine years, this event has raised around €422,500 for charity.
