The Grand Ducal Police have reported an arrest following a suspected drink-driving incident in Luxembourg City during the night of Friday 13 to Saturday 14 March 2026.
According to the initial report, at around 01:15 a witness in the car park at Place du Théâtre observed a man, apparently intoxicated, manoeuvring his car and colliding with a parked vehicle before leaving the scene.
Police were alerted and located the driver shortly afterwards as he was exiting the car park. During the check, the man initially refused to comply with police instructions and did not present his vehicle documents.
He also restarted his vehicle engine and engaged reverse gear, but one of the officers present was able to prevent this.
As the breath test could not be properly carried out at the scene and the man did not cooperate with further police procedures, he was considered a danger to himself and others and was taken into custody after a medical examination, police said.
