The Grand Ducal Police have reported several incidents that took place on Wednesday 4 February 2026 and during the night into Thursday 5 February 2026, involving alcohol-related disturbances and serious traffic offences.
On Wednesday evening, police were alerted to an apparently intoxicated man on a bus in Luxembourg-Kirchberg. According to the initial information, a patrol located the individual, who was found to be heavily under the influence of alcohol. Following a medical examination, he was placed in custody to sober up.
Later the same evening, officers were called to the pedestrian zone in Ettelbruck, where, according to the initial information, a man was reported to be harassing passers-by. The individual, who was visibly intoxicated, was located at the scene and verbally insulted the officers. Due to his condition and for disturbing public order, he was taken into custody after undergoing a medical examination.
In a separate incident on Wednesday evening, police were notified of a traffic accident involving two cars in Koetschette. According to the initial information, one of the drivers involved left the scene without attending to the damage. The suspect was identified and located shortly afterwards. He showed clear signs of alcohol consumption but refused to take an alcohol test. A provisional driving ban was issued and an accident report was drawn up.
During the night into Thursday, a police patrol on the A4 motorway towards Esch-sur-Alzette noticed a vehicle travelling at excessive speeds. According to the initial information, the car was initially recorded at 209 km/h in a 130 km/h zone and later at 176 km/h where the speed limit was 90 km/h. The driver was stopped and his driving licence was confiscated.
