On Thursday 6 June 2024, the Grand Ducal Police confirmed that they have issued a total of 36 fines to motorists for using mobile phones while driving.
The fines were all issued earlier in the day, both on the A4 motorway towards Luxembourg city between 07:00 - 10:00, and on the Rue du Brill in Foetz between 11:00 - 12:00. In each case, the drivers were fined €250 and had four points on their licence.
In addition, five drivers were unable to present an insurance certificate during the checks and, in three cases, their driving licenses were not produced. Also, one driver was not in possession of a technical inspection certificate and two others did not have a valid tax vignette. And seven drivers were fined because they had used their car's horns and hazard lights "outside the legal framework". In two cases, drivers were given a fine because of their driving style or excessive speed.
