On Saturday 17 February 2024, shortly after 6:15, the Grand Ducal Police received a report that a car crashed into the wall of an apartment block on Rue de Wilwerdange in Ulflingen.
When the emergency services arrived, the vehicle was already on fire and the flames had spread to the apartment building.
Since the entrance area of the building was also blocked by the fire, the neighbours and the fire department rescued the residents from the building. The fire was extinguished and no one was injured. The car’s driver was found at the scene with minor injuries. An alcohol test and a rapid drug test were positive, prompting the police to log the incident.
The road was closed to traffic for the duration of the rescue operation and was reopened to traffic around 10:00.
