Luxembourg's Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs has announced that Peter Sands, Executive Director of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, will pay a working visit to the Grand Duchy on Tuesday 31 May 2022.

On this occasion, Peter Sands will meet with Luxembourg's Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, Franz Fayot, for an interview.

The Global Fund is the world's leading provider of grants to fight HIV, TB and malaria. Between its inception in 2002 and June 2021, the Global Fund has disbursed more than $53 billion in support of HIV, TB and malaria control and health systems strengthening programmes in more than 155 countries. Luxembourg has supported the Global Fund since its creation in 2002 and has helped save more than 27 million lives through its contributions.

This interview will also give Minister Fayot an opportunity to discuss Luxembourg's future support for the Global Fund for the period 2023 to 2025 in view of the Seventh Replenishment conference to be held in autumn 2022.

Moreover, Mr Sands will meet with the Chairman of the parliamentary committee on foreign and European affairs, cooperation, immigration and asylum, Yves Cruchten, the Chairman of the committee on health and sports, Mars Di Bartolomeo, and members of various other committees at the Chamber of Deputies (Luxembourg's parliament).
