The American Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg (AMCHAM) organised a rare political panel event in English at Amazon in Luxembourg-Kirchberg on the evening of Tuesday 4 June 2024.

The event drew a sold-out crowd of 130 attendees. Moderated by Italo di Lorenzo, Luxembourg Public Policy Lead at Amazon, it provided a platform for candidates from Luxembourg's leading political parties to discuss key issues ahead of the upcoming European elections.

The opening remarks and welcome greetings were delivered by AMCHAM Chairman and CEO Paul Schonenberg, after which, Italo di Lorenzo introduced the following panel speakers: Christophe Hansen, MP (CSV); Marc Angel, MEP and Vice-President of the European Parliament (LSAP); Sven Clement, MP and Pirate Party President; Christos Floros, MEP candidate (DP); Fernand Kartheiser, MP (ADR); François Bausch, MP and former Minister for Mobility and Public Works (Greens).

The panel concluded with closing remarks from Paul Schonenberg emphasising the importance for everyone being eligible to vote to do so on Sunday 9 June 2024, in order to support Europe. Afterwards, he thanked the speakers for their contributions and the audience for their active participation. The evening provided an opportunity for the public to engage directly with the candidates and gain a deeper understanding of their platforms.

AMCHAM noted that, as the European elections approach, events like these are crucial in fostering informed and active citizenship.

Following the discussion, guests and panel speakers from all political parties were invited to join a networking cocktail to exchange their views and open questions.
