Luxembourg’s Ministry of Culture has reported that on Saturday 11 October 2025, Minister for Culture Eric Thill attended the sectoral conference (“Assises sectorielles”) on choral singing, organised by the European institute of choral singing, INECC Luxembourg, at the Mierscher Theater in Mersch.
According to the ministry, the conference brought together key figures from the choral sector for an overview presented by expert Francis Lucas, followed by a roundtable discussion led by specialists in the field. Chaired by Françoise Hetto-Gaasch, President of INECC, the event aimed to highlight the richness and diversity of choral practice in Luxembourg while also addressing the challenges faced by the sector.
In his speech, Minister Thill praised “the vitality, passion and commitment of Luxembourg’s choirs,” emphasising that “choral singing is much more than a cultural tradition; it is a vehicle for cohesion, exchange and creativity at the heart of our society.”
The minister also underlined the role of INECC as a key partner of the ministry in organising the conference and in following up on the study carried out between December 2024 and March 2025. “This analysis provides a valuable basis for defining new strategic directions and strengthening the development of the choral sector in the coming years,” the minister concluded.
Minister Thill thanked all participants, experts and organisers for their contribution to this morning of discussion and reflection.
