On Wednesday 25 September 2024, Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade announced that the Grand Duchy was supporting humanitarian efforts in Laos and Vietnam.
In response to the devastating floods caused by Typhoon Yagi in Laos and Vietnam, Luxembourg will contribute €600,000 to support the humanitarian efforts of the UN World Food Programme (WFP) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in both countries.
In Vietnam, the Grand Duchy will contribute €450,000 in response to the IFRC emergency appeal, which aims to provide immediate humanitarian assistance and support the restoration of livelihoods for affected communities in the northern provinces.
In Laos, Luxembourg will support the WFP's efforts with a contribution of €150,000, aimed in particular at distributing food aid to populations affected by the floods.
