Luxembourg's Ministry of State has reported that Prime Minister Luc Frieden will pay a working visit to Budapest in Hungary on Thursday 12 September and an official visit to Chișinău in Moldova on Friday 13 September 2024.

On the agenda is a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orbán, during which the heads of government will discuss the priorities of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and current international issues. The ministry noted that this meeting is taking place within the framework of the dialogues that the Luxembourg Prime Minister has wished to have since the beginning of his mandate with all EU heads of government.

At the invitation of Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Luxembourg's Prime Minister will then travel to Chișinău as part of an official visit. This meeting follows Prime Minister Recean's visit to Luxembourg in June 2024 on the occasion of the opening of EU accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova.

On 13 September, the heads of government will have the opportunity to discuss current international and European issues during a working meeting. The Luxembourg Prime Minister will also be received by Moldovan President Maia Sandu for an interview that will address the geopolitical situation and express Luxembourg's support for Moldova.
