Kultur | lx - Arts Council Luxembourg has announced that C'est Karma and CHAiLD will represent the Grand Duchy at the Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) festival, which is taking place in Groningen in the Netherlands from Wednesday 17 to Sunday 21 January 2024.
In its latest newsletter, Kultur | lx looked back at a "successful" 2023 for Luxembourgish music acts, with various releases, festival appearances and tours around the world, from Mexico to Japan. MAZ, CHAiLD, Francis of Delirium, Tuys, Josh Island, DasRadial, C'est Karma, Florence Besch and ENGLBRT played a total of sixteen shows at seven festivals, including The Great Escape in the United Kingdom and the Reeperbahn Festival in Germany.
The new year is beginning in the same vein, with C'est Karma and CHAiLD set to perform at the ESNS in mid-January. Music lovers and industry professionals are gearing up to discover new emerging European talents at this festival in Groningen. A Luxembourg delegates-only networking reception will take place at the Social Hub on the evening of Wednesday 17 January 2024.
21-year-old Karma Catena, aka C'est Karma, has also been named the laureate of the Global Project Grant 2024 for pop/rock/electro/hip hop. The previous laureate, Josh Island, channelled the funding into a major European tour and the promotion of his debut album last year. Following these events, Josh signed a contract with a Dutch booking agency.
Another musical highlight this year is the return of Luxembourg to the Eurovision Song Contest after 31 years. The national final is taking place at Rockhal in Esch-Belval on Saturday 27 January 2024.
