Chronicle.lu recently got the opportunity to speak with David Holland, entrepreneur and co-founder (alongside his wife Lynn) of Luxembourg-based family business Results Rules OK, about his upcoming trip to the Poland-Ukraine border aimed at supporting Ukrainians amid Russia's invasion.

David Holland explained that he and his wife will be driving to the Poland-Ukraine border in a large SUV with a top box and a trailer on Thursday 3 March 2022. Their goal? To bring much-needed supplies such as nappies, feminine hygiene products, baby formula, first aid kits and sleeping bags to Ukrainian refugees. Mr Holland took to social media this week to ask for any additional donations and to invite others to join him and his wife on this trip in their own vehicles. The plan is to drive off on Thursday and return in the evening of Sunday 6 March 2022.

Speaking to Chronicle.lu about the idea behind this initiative, David Holland said: "We just felt helpless watching the news and thought we wanted to do something - so as we have a big car we thought of driving over to the border to take provisions and supplies for the refugees". Regarding potential challenges along the way and at the border, he noted: "We really don't know what we will find when we get there - but we will figure it out".

When asked how he and his wife determined which items would be most needed, Mr Holland explained: "We checked with the charities and looked for things in short supply - [we were] out shopping with donations today for microwaves, kettles and other goods as well as blankets, sleeping bags and first aid kits".

Regarding the response to his request for donations, David Holland said: "It has been overwhelming - nearly €3,000 donated, people dropping off bags at our house and offers of accommodation and support - truly amazing. We are blown away by the generosity of people". Donations have come in from Luxembourg, the United States of America (USA), Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom (UK), France and Germany. He added that no further donations are needed at present: "We can only fit so much in our vehicle".

On the subject of potentially bringing Ukrainian refugees back with them to Luxembourg or their family home across the border in France, David Holland noted:"We will contact the authorities and go through the correct channels, but if we can help a family by bringing them to France / Luxembourg, then we have room for six".

David and Lynn Holland are among several people in Luxembourg and beyond who have taken the initiative to go out and support Ukrainians during these challenging times.
