On Friday 8 October 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy announced that, the meeting of the government's cabinet earlier in the day approved a proposal from the Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, concerning the appointment of André Hansen to the post of Commissioner General of the Luxembourg pavilion of the Universal Exhibition in Osaka in 2025.

Advisor to the Ministry of the Economy, André Hansen is Deputy Head of the General Directorate for the Promotion of Foreign Trade and Investments. Aged 41, André Hansen is also Chairman of the Committee for the Promotion of Luxembourg Exports (COPEL) of the Office du Ducroire, member of the board of directors of the Office du Ducroire and member of the management board of Luxembourg@Expo2020Dubai GIE.

In addition to the post of Commissioner General, André Hansen will continue to perform all of his current functions.

The Osaka World Expo will take place from 13 April to 13 October 2025 and will be under the theme “Designing the society of the future, imagining our life for tomorrow”. In Japan, Luxembourg will take part in a universal exhibition for the 25th time.
