Chronicle.lu has been allocated a number of tickets for the Official Opening of the 15th anniversary British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg which is holding its Spring Edition from 13 to 23 March.

The Official Opening is being held on Monday 18 March 2024 at 20:00 at Ciné Utopia in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg.

Following the Opening Speeches, the film "Verdigris" will be screened. This will be followed by an in-person Q&A with the two lead actors, Geraldine McAlinden and Maya O'Shea, after which a reception is being held.

Synopsis: Trapped in a marriage with a volatile and controlling husband, middle-aged, middle-class retiree Marian takes on a secret part-time job as a census enumerator. However, the job is no picnic - on her tough inner-city route, she faces dismissive and abusive locals who flatly refuse to engage in the census. This includes brash and no-nonsense teenager Jewel, who Marian soon realises is living alone with no obvious means of supporting herself. Marian finds herself striking a deal with Jewel – she won’t report her to the authorities if Jewel helps her get the locals to fill out their census forms. As they walk the streets of Dublin, an unlikely friendship blooms and they learn from each other. Winner of Best Independent Film Award at the Galway Film Fleadh 2023. View Trailer.
