On Wednesday 21 February 2024, the Frequencies department and the management of the Luxembourg Regulatory Institute (ILR) confirmed the implementation of the new BASE certificate in Luxembourg for those requiring an amateur radio certificate.

Jointly with clubs offering courses for radio amateurs, the institute has set up a new BASIC certificate aimed at a young audience or anyone wishing to acquire basic notions in the field of amateur radio.

The BASE certificate complements the existing offer, namely the NOVICE and HAREC certificates. This certificate, already offered by certain countries neighbouring the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, trains candidates in the basics of amateur radio.

The first exam session will be held on 4 June 2024.

The terms and conditions of registration for candidates can be consulted at www.ilr.lu and any request for information on this subject can be sent by email: exam-amateur@ilr.lu.

The clubs offering courses are the Luxembourg Amateur Radio Union a.s.b.l. (Box 85, L-9201 Diekirch, email: info@laru.lu) and Radio amateurs from Luxembourg (Box 1352, L-1013 Luxembourg, email: rl@rl.lu)
