The Office for Intellectual Property of Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy has announced that it is organising, in collaboration with the Institute for Intellectual Property Luxembourg (IPIL GIE), the sixteenth edition of Luxembourg Intellectual Property Day on Thursday 25 April 2024.

The event is being held at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, starting at 13:00. The focus is on industrial property and regional development news.

Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, will deliver the opening speech of the conference. The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) will then present the reform of the European Union Design Protection framework. This will be followed by a presentation, led by the brand image promotion department of the Economy Ministry, on the theme of nation branding for the promotion of Luxembourg know-how.

The second part of the conference will be devoted to geographical names and agricultural labels. Firstly, the Administration of Technical Agricultural Services (ASTA) and the Wine Institute (IVV) will present the system of geographical indications for foodstuffs, wines and spirit drinks. The ministry's Office for Intellectual Property will continue with a presentation of the new geographical indications for artisanal and industrial products. Finally, the Chamber of Agriculture will offer an overview of agricultural labels in Luxembourg.

The conference will close with the presentation of the new visual support for raising awareness of intellectual property from IPIL GIE, entitled "Intellectual property: between terroir and innovation". Two question and answer sessions are also scheduled.

Alongside the conference, a fair hosted mainly by Luxembourg intellectual property stakeholders (official bodies, patent attorneys, specialised lawyers, etc.) will be freely accessible to the public.

Attendance at the conference is free but requires prior registration at: https://ipil.lu/fr/inscription-journee-pi/. The full programme is available online at https://ipil.lu/fr/event/journee_pi_2024/.
