On Friday 1 March 2023, Luxembourg for Finance (LFF) confirmed that its board has unanimously decided to appoint Tom Theobald as CEO of Luxembourg for Finance as of 1 September 2024, following the decision of the Government to appoint Nicolas Mackel as Luxembourg’s Ambassador to the EU.

Tom Theobald comes with a wealth of experience, having served at the Luxembourg’s Bankers association ABBL, as Deputy CEO of Luxembourg for Finance and as Director in charge of the Development of the Financial Centre at the Ministry of Finance.

Gilles Roth, Luxembourg's Minister of Finance and Chair of Luxembourg for Finance, commented: "Tom Theobald has accompanied and contributed greatly to the work done by Luxembourg for Finance over the last years and is uniquely positioned to lead it on its successful journey. Our partners from PROFIL and I look forward to continuing to work with him in implementing our ambitious agenda for developing Luxembourg’s financial centre. We all congratulate Nicolas Mackel on his appointment to a posting of central importance to the Government’s priorities and thank him for the impressive work accomplished in the last 11 years. Nicolas has indeed been instrumental in developing and strengthening Luxembourg’s role as a leading international centre for more than a decade."
