Details:
Details: 1 May is a public holiday in Luxembourg. All over the country people make ‘Meekränz’ (May wreaths)– a garland made out of branches with fresh, bright green leaves. They are hung on the front of a central building in the village for everyone to see. These wreaths mark the beginning of spring. Originally, this tradition is connected with a pagan sacrificial festival to keep evil spirits away from the villages.
