Details: 6 January each year marks ‘Draikinneksdaach’ (the day of the three kings). It is a Christian feast which celebrates the arrival of the Three Wise Men who came to see baby Jesus. Originally it was a pagan celebration of Light; on 6 January the days start to become lighter again.

Today, people all over the country eat a ‘kinnekskuch’ or ‘galette des rois’ (king’s cake), which is a pastry filled with frangipane and a little figure hidden inside of the cake and accompanied by a golden crown. The person who finds the figure gets who wear the crown, and becomes king or queen for the day.
