Details: The British Chamber of Commerce has announced a new lunchtime talk set for Tuesday 24 May 2016 dedicated to the theme of "The UK's Sovereignty within the EU".
The guest speaker will be Paddy Ashdown (Rt Hon Lord Ashdown of Norton-sub-Hamden), President of the European Movement, who will offer his thoughts on the subject.
Having started out as a Royal Marine and as an intelligence officer in the UK security servies, Paddy Ashdown became a Member of Parliament in 1983, serving as Leader of the British Liberal Democrats from 1988 to 1999. During this time he vigourously lobbied for military action against Yugoslavia and after retiring from the Commons in 2001, he became International High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2002 to 2006. He was made a KBE in 2000 and a peer in 2001, whilst his work in Bosnia and Herzegovina earned him the GCMG in te 2006 New Year's Honours List.
The event will open at 12:00 at La Table du Belvedere in Kirchberg with lunch planned for 12:30. Aperitifs will be sponsored by PwC Luxembourg. Cancellations must be submitted in writing no later than 12:00 on Friday 20 May 2016. Failure to do so will result in being nevertheless charged for the cost of the event.
