The British-Luxembourg Society (BLS) has announced two upcoming members-only events taking place in Luxembourg in June 2026.
Exploring Roman Britain Lecture: On Friday 19 June 2026, from 18:30 to 20:00, the BLS will host a lecture entitled "Exploring Roman Britain" at the Dalheim Gallo-Roman Theatre (Neie Wee, Dalheim). The lecture will be delivered by Professor Martin Millett, Emeritus Laurence Professor at the University of Cambridge, in the historic setting of the former Roman settlement of Ricciacum. According to the organisers, Dalheim served as a regular revictualling point on the route between Metz and Trier and, at its height, occupied a 35-hectare site featuring a theatre capable of accommodating 3,500 spectators, thermal baths and temples.
The event is open exclusively to BLS members. Registration is available via the BLS website.
Summer Reception at the British Ambassador's Residence: On Thursday 25 June 2026, from 18:00 to 20:00, the BLS, together with the British Embassy in Luxembourg, will host its annual Summer Reception at the residence of the British Ambassador to Luxembourg, Joanne Olivier, located at 16 Boulevard Franklin Delano Roosevelt in Luxembourg City. According to the organisers, the reception provides an opportunity for members to meet one another and welcome those who have joined the society during the past year. Guests will enjoy drinks, canapés and live music from Jalo Sounds in the residence's gardens. A London bus service will depart from Place Glacis at 17:30 and return after the event, with a €5 return fare.
Due to limited capacity, registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis and is restricted to BLS members. Members can register through the upcoming events section of the BLS website.
