After four years of negotiations, a new collective agreement has been found for Delhaize staff in Luxembourg.

On 26 February 2018, the trade unions LCGB and OGBL signed a new collective labour agreement for all employees of Delhaize Luxembourg S.A.

The negotiations, which lasted more than 4 years, were a real challenge for the parties involved as they aimed to bring together the two separate collective agreements of the employees of Pommerloch and Schmiede (former Knauf Centre collective agreement) and the employees of Delhaize shops without the employees experiencing loss of benefits they already acquired.

This new collective agreement is valid from 1 March 2018 until 28 February 2021 and makes the following adaptations of the organisation of work: the display of schedules four weeks before application; additional days of leave depending on the seniority of the employee; at least 12 free Saturdays and 17 free Sundays per year (statutory holidays included) guaranteed; a procedure to be followed regarding the employee's request for leave before 31 January with a guaranteed response from the employer by 28 February at the latest.

The major improvements achieved by the social partners relate to elements of remuneration, including a new salary scale of 20 steps allowing for regular increases leading to the qualified salary at 10 years of seniority within the company; a year-end bonus with a fixed portion and a performance-related portion; a 20% discount on the prices of in-store purchases; employees hired between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2017 will receive a voucher of €50 and employees hired before 31 December 2016 will receive a voucher worth €100.
