Austrian-based group Madame Baheux will be playing in Luxembourg on Wednesday 4 October 2017 at the Abbaye Neumünster from 20:00.

The non-profit Folk-Clupp Lëtzebuerg, in collaboration with neimënster and with the financial support of the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture and the Embassy of Austria have organised a performance by Madame Baheux, a quartet of women from Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Austria based in Vienna.

Jelena Popržan from Serbia, Ljubinka Jokić from Bosnia, Maria Petrova from Bulgaria and Lina Neuner from Austria represent four voices, fourteen strings, two bows, percussion and drums.

Madame Baheux presents folkloric, catchy and addictive pieces with innovative arrangements composed by the band members, as well as songs by Ewan MacColl, Bertolt Brecht and Georg Kreisler.

Despite the southern European roots of three-quarters of the musicians, the quartet goes far beyond these borders with their multi-lingual and multi-stylistic music, featuring jazz, rock and other genres.

Indeed, Madame Baheux won the World Music Awards in Austria in 2014 and their first CD reached the top 20 of the World Music Charts Europe.

Tickets for the Luxembourg performance cost €25, €12 reduced, or €1.50 with a Kulturpass.
