A Discovery Workshop will tak place in Echternach on Sunday 3 September 2017 around the newly-built Roman garden at the Villa Romaine in Echternach (47a rue des Romains - Parking du Lac).

This family workshop is being offered continuously from 10:00 to 16:00.

The site of the Roman villa in Echternach is offering visitors the opportunity to discover the Roman garden which has been laid out next to the museum and the remains of the villa. This garden, designed according to ancient cultivation traditions, is home to medicinal and ornamental plants, culinary herbs and fruits and vegetables.

A guided tour, followed by a tasting of herbs and vegetables, demonstrates how the residents of the "villa romana" worked and used the plants as medicines or for eating.

The workshop allows visitors of all ages to discover the villa garden in a sensory way: to look, feel and taste. They will get to know various specialties as well as different herbs, fruits and vegetables, which will be prepared and tasted on the basis of ancient Roman recipes.
