2018 Vakanz Opens to Crowds

Late afternoon today, Friday 12 January 2018, the 27th Vakanz tourism and travel fair opened at Luxexpo The Box in Kirchberg-Luxembourg.

Luxembourg's Secretary of State for the Economy, Francine Closener, attended the official opening of The annual tourism fair which is the largest event in the Greater Region dedicated to travel and tourism in general.

During the 27th edition, which runs until Sunday, more than 200 exhibitors are presenting their tourism offers to the general public, including a number of new destinations including Peru, Panama,...

As by tradition, Luxair / LuxairTours has the largest stand, with booths for each destination and special offers aplenty.

Luxembourg is also presented as a destination at Vakanz - the "Visit Luxembourg" exhibition booth allows visitors to discover the best attractions and activities to explore throughout the country. The stand is run by students from the Alexis-Heck Hotel Technical High School and visitors have the opportunity to exchange with the "Junior" national culinary team from Luxembourg, which is taking part in the Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup competition in November 2018 organised in the Grand Duchy.

Northern destinations, the African savannah, Caribbean beaches, the Greater Region and neighbouring countries, North America, the Far East and Australasia, are all showcased by travel experts; travel agencies, holiday organisers, hotels and hotel chains, cruise lines, airlines, etc.

As well as three halls of exhibition stands (over 17,000 m2) of tour operators, travel firms, hotels, etc., there is also an Afterwork Party on the Friday evening, a 3D flight simulator and a 3D mountainbike simulator, as well as segways and hoverboards. Plus there are three restaurants - Beach club, Sky Lounge and Mountain Chalet.
