Luxembourg's Gilles Muller (seeded #23) defeated 33 year-old Malek Jaziri (ranked #97) from Tunisia in the second round of the Australian Open tennis tournament currently being played in Melbourne.

Following his 3-set win over Argentinian Federico Delbonis in the first round, Gilles Muller was made to work much harder in a match that lasted the full five sets, with the final score 7-5, 6-4, 6-7, 3-6, 6-2.

This victory set Gilles Muller up with a third round match against 26 year-old Pablo Carreno Busta (ranked #11) from Spain - who defeated France's 33 year-old Gilles Simon who retired in the second set with the score at 6-2, 3-0.​
