Luxembourg's Gilles Muller (seeded #23) defeated Argentinian Federico Delbonis in three sets in the first round of the Australian Open tennis championship which kicked off today in Melbourne.

34 year-old Gilles Muller won 7-5, 6-4, 6-3 to secure a comfortable victory and set up a second round match against 33 year-old Malek Jaziri (ranked #97) from Tunisia - who defeated Salvatore Caruso of Italy in five sets. ​
