LUkraine Asbl has announced details of the Solidarity March this Saturday 24 February 2024 to commemorate the second year of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
This demonstration of shared commitment to peace, democracy and the belief that the association's collective actions today will shape the future of entire Europe are being held under the slogan "Ukraine’s Fight - Europe’s Future!".
The event on Saturday starts at 13:45 with people gathering in front of Luxembourg-Gare. The Solidarity march to Place de Clairefontaine will start at 14:00 and will take around an hour to complete. At 15:00, an official Commemorating Ceremony will be held with five confirmed speakers:
- Nicolas Zharov, President of LUkraine
- Claude Wiseler, the President of the Chambre of Deputies of Luxembourg
- Anna Calteaux, Head of Representation at the Representation of the EU Commission to Luxembourg
- Vladimír Bärtl, Czech Republic Ambassador in Luxembourg
- Sam Elsey, the President of the Luxembourg Youth Parliament
According to LUkraine, "the Russian aggression against Europe started in Ukraine. But the world does not seem to consider Russia’s defeat acceptable. Luxembourg knows very well what fighting for independence and national identity means, and this is what unites us. Choosing any other scenario but the victory of Ukraine means letting Russia wreck the world order and the peace the world has been trying to maintain since WWII. Ukraine is fighting for the future of the whole of Europe!"
LUkraine is urging "Bring flags with you, write posters. Here are a few messages we encourage you to use, but you can write the ones you like: Time to Act!, Ukraine’s Fight - Europe’s Future!, Ukraine Today - Europe tomorrow!, Unite for Fight in Freedom's Light!, Support Ukraine, Save Europe!"
LUkraine's message concluded with "Together, we can send a powerful message that we are united against evil and for a peaceful future. Stand with us at Place de Clairefontaine on this important day! Read what LUkraine stands for in our official Manifesto!"
