Galeries Lafayette, the French fashion and home department store chain, yesterday confirmed that it would be opening a 9,000 m2 store in Luxembourg.

It will take a major lease at the Royal Hamilius project that is currently under construction in Luxembourg-ville; the store will be designed by award-winning architect Norman Foster.

The Royal Hamilius shopping centre is expected to open towards the end of 2019; it will be six stories high (above-ground, also with underground parking) and will also comprise offices and a rooftop garden offering a panoramic view.

Galeries Lafayette operates almost 60 stores throughout France, including its flagship store in Paris, in Bld Haussmann. The Luxembourg store will be its sixth outside France - the others being in Dubai, Berlin, Istanbul, Beijing and Jakarta - with others scheduled to open in Milan, Doha, Shanghai and Kuwait, as well as a second store in Istanbul.

The collaboration with Galeries Lafayette is in partnership with CODIC.
