The City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) has launched a call for applications as part of its pop-up stores project for the rental of premises located on the ground floor of the Fort Neipperg car park (43, rue du Fort Neipperg) from March 2024.

The City of Luxembourg announced it is launching a call for applications to set up a pop-up restaurant offering dishes to take away or eat on site. Application files will be accepted until Monday 5 February 2024.

Interested entrepreneurs can submit their application via the form available on the City of Luxembourg website. Only complete files with the form and project description will be taken into consideration. Among the selection criteria are the availability of candidates as well as the originality and quality of the concepts proposed.

The premises located within the Fort Neipperg car park have on the ground floor a restaurant area with an area of 70 m2 offering 50 seats, including around thirty seats in the central part and around twenty seats in the “bar” part, as well as sanitary facilities for customers. The upstairs facilities include staff rooms and a fully equipped professional kitchen alongside technical and storage rooms. The use of natural building materials, including wood, creates a modern atmosphere. Solar thermal panels on the car park roof will heat the brewery's water, minimising the restaurant's energy consumption.

The rental period is eleven months. The amount of the monthly rent ranges between €650 and €2,250 and varies depending on the specific situation of the entrepreneur. A general flat rate for charges is added to the rent.

By ensuring short-term rental of commercial space, the City of Luxembourg added that it offers creators, entrepreneurs or start-ups the opportunity to test a new product, service or concept in direct contact with their customers. Thus, the concept of “pop-up stores” serves as a springboard for tenants who can benefit from a first experience in a physical store before launching into commerce permanently. Furthermore, pop-up stores contribute to the creation of a rich commercial offer and attract a diverse public to the city centre.

Owners of temporarily unoccupied commercial spaces wishing to join the project are invited to contact the economic and commercial development unit of the City of Luxembourg via tel.: 4796-5000 (Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 17:00) and via email: dec@vdl.lu.
