The Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration (ALVA) has announced the recall of Cobolux brand Mettwurst sausages from shops in the Grand Duchy.

The following products have been recalled due to the potential presence of salmonella: different types of Cobolux brand Mettwurst (Collier Mettwurst, Mettwurst Apéro, Mettwurst Cocktail...) sold in plastic packs of two, four, six, ten, 25 and in bulk. The affected expiry date is 31 January 2024. The affected products have the lot number 20231229 and were sold in various shops across the country between 2 and 10 January 2024.

ALVA recalled that salmonella can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, fever and headache within six to 72 hours after consumption. These symptoms may be aggravated in young children, immunocompromised individuals and the elderly. People who have consumed the aforementioned products and display such symptoms are invited to consult a doctor.
