On Wednesday 7 February 2024, Yuriko Backes, Luxembourg’s Minister for Gender Equality and Diversity and Prof. Jens Kreisel, Rector of the University of Luxembourg, signed an agreement announcing the third cooperation between the Ministry for Gender Equality and Diversity (MEGA), the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) and Research Luxembourg around the “Women and Girls in Science 2024” campaign.

During her speech on the sidelines of the signing, Yuriko Backes stressed that science and research have no gender and are open to all. She went on to state that “women’s place is in research, in science, in STEM – everywhere.

Between 11 February, International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and 8 March, International Women's Day, as part of the "Women and Girls in Science 2024" campaign, six videos will be released featuring working women scientists in different sectors linked to science and research in Luxembourg. The videos aim particularly to encourage young women not to shy away from opting for a career in science and inspire the general public to actively oppose harmful stereotypes and outdated gender norms.

Research Luxembourg counts among its partners the University of Luxembourg, LIST, LIH and LISER. The videos can be viewed on the social networks of MEGA, the University and Research Luxembourg, as well as on their platform.
