On Wednesday 25 October 2017, Mayor and Aldermen of the Ville de Luxembourg, together with HE Petr Kubernát, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Luxembourg, unveiled a relief of Emperor Charles IV in the new school located at 19 rue Charles IV in Luxembourg-Belair, in the presence of the sculptor, Milan Tichý, and Jaroslav Spacek, historian, representing the Mayor of the city of Celakovice, Vaclav Spacek.

The inauguration ceremony was supervised by the Czech, Slovak and Luxembourg folk group "Melimelo", created in 2013.

The relief of Charles IV, copied from the original found at the Saint Guy Cathedral in Prague, was offered to the Ville de Luxembourg on the initiative of the "Czech and Slovak Friendship Luxembourg" association in the context of historical relations between Luxembourg and Prague.

It was Charles IV, Count of Luxembourg, King of Bohemia, King of the Romans and Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, who in 1354 raised the county of Luxembourg to the rank of Duchy. Since then, relations between the two cities have consolidated. In the 1960s and 1970s, several delegation visits took place respectively in Luxembourg City and Prague and a twinning agreement between the two cities was signed on 22 June 1968, and was renewed in August 1971.

In 2010, the Ville de Luxembourg joined in the celebrations of the 700th anniversary of the marriage of Jean de Luxembourg and Elisabeth of Bohemia and therefore of the accession of John the Blind to the throne of Bohemia, including taking charge of the restoration of the reliquary of Saint George and loaning documents from the City Archives for the "Royal Wedding" exhibition in the Bell House in Prague. Finally, in October 2016, the college of mayors and aldermen attended the inauguration after redevelopment of Jan Palach Square, the City of Luxembourg having been the first city to name a place after Jan Palach in 1969.
