On Wednesday 24 January 2018, around 25 members and potential future members will attend an event in Luxembourg of Volt, a pan-European political youth movement with the aim of running for EU Parliamentary Elections in 2019, and later for offices on all levels across Member States to form the first truly pan-European Party.

The event will take place on Wednesday 24 January 2018 from 19:00 at Octans Bar (15 rue du Curé, Luxembourg-ville).

This meeting will be the 2nd such Volt Meetup; it started on 29 March 2017 when a small group of young professionals and students which now has 650 members and 1,300 supporters across 16 EU Member States. Its leader, Andrea Venzon, will attend the Luxembourg event.

Volt defines itself as beyond left and right, looking for the best solutions, e.g. via a best-practice sharing acorss all Member States, but has the clear goal of truly uniting the European Union and solving its design flaws.

According to Volt:

"Volt stands for a strong and integrated Europe: despite its obvious flaws, the EU has massively and positively affected this continent and its people, and it continues to do so! The EU’s benefits go beyond the classically mentioned ones - such as 70 years of peace, repeated  periods of economic prosperity, the possibility of travelling freely and a steady spread of human and civil rights - and include less discussed ones such as lower prices of goods coming from within the EU, an unprecedented protection of customers in front of big corporations, the birth of low-costs airlines, the clampdown on roaming costs, and so much more. Don’t get it wrong: the EU in its current form is not achieving its full potential, is stuck in anachronistic national clashes, is unable to act when needed, and is overly bureaucratic. Thus, it is time to move beyond the achievements that the EU has won in respect to trade, but to advance on a journey that transforms the Union’s strength to other areas. For this, to reform and advance the EU, Volt will work tirelessly and with all its energy.
Volt stands for basic human rights that are too often overlooked in today's world, such as the right to marry whomever one loves, the right to find a safe harbor when war is raging, the right to find a job, the right to receive the same wage regardless of one’s gender, race, or skin color, and the right to partake in society independently of one’s age or physical and mental abilities. Volt’s members do not saying what i supposed to say, but they stand for those unalienable rights that reactionary politicians are not willing to uphold. This movement will not compromise on these fundamental values, and more importantly it will strive to achieve these goals
Volt is built upon the newcomers, the innovators, the pioneers. This movement will truly work to cut inefficiencies, achieve full transparency and completely clampdown on corruption, because this is our way of thinking, of living, and of being. Volt will strive to support economically challenged regions, simplify the life of entrepreneurs, and tax huge corporations to alleviate the weight on smaller companies and individuals. Political will for real change seems to be scarce – no worries, Volt has tons of it and it will bring it to the European election of 2019.
Finally, as a truly transnational movement, Volt does not only provide an umbrella of policies to be applied everywhere in Europe, but also derives from this very umbrella local solutions to solve local problems: running at all levels of government, from city councils to the European Parliament, is key to bringing change.
For those who wish for a strong and integrated European Union, who believe in human rights and social equality, who strive for innovation within our administrations and economies, it is time to join Volt.
Together, we can fight for the values we hold dear. Together, we can change Europe
