Le Freeport Luxembourg will be hosting the upcoming European Parliament inspection for transparency on Monday 5 February 2018.

Last December, the European Parliament adopted the "PANA Inquiry Report" on tax havens. Among other things, this report expressed doubts about the activities of "free ports" and their possible involvement in money laundering operations.

At the time the president of Le Freeport Luxembourg, Robert Goebbels, had written to the President of the European Parliament's Committee of Inquiry, Werner Langen, to invite a delegation from the European Parliament to come and visit the facilities of Le Freeport, which operates in compliance with international and national rules in this area, not only the European Customs Code, but also the legislation prohibiting money laundering.

Next Monday morning, a group of MEPs, led by President Werner Langen and MP Ana Gomes, will visit the facilities of Le Freeport.
