From 12-14 March 2018, Luxembourg Minister for Equal Opportunities Lydia Mutsch attended the 62nd session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York.

Every year, representatives of UN Member States meet to review progress on gender equality, identify challenges for the future, set global standards and develop policies.

In her speech at this year’s session, Lydia Mutsch presented the recent Luxembourg reforms to advance equality, such as quotas in politics, the reduction of wage inequality, paternity leave and the intensification of the fight against violence against women.

These results aim to bring Luxembourg closer to a balance between men and women at all levels and encourage the government to face the many challenges of the future, such as that of digital transformation.

Beyond the CSW, the Luxembourg Minister had bilateral interviews and was received by Yannick Glemarec, Deputy Executive Director of UN-Women.
