Luxembourg’s short track skaters participated in the first World cup qualifier for the 2018 Olympics in Budapest last weekend.

After taking part in summer camps in the Netherlands and Poland in July and August, Peter Murphy and Augustin Géré represented Luxembourg at the World Cup qualifier in Budapest.

Despite a very high level of competition, both Peter Murphy and Augustin Géré competed well. The objective was to gather experience for the next Olympic cycle, leading to Beijing 2022, but also to try for the 2018 Olympics.

Peter came 72nd out of 90 participants in the 500m in Budapest, 86th out of 92 in the 1000m, and 73rd out of 91 in the 1500m. Augustin, for his part, came in 80th position in the 500m, 55th in the 1000m and 54th in the 1500m, setting the national record with a time of 2:16:944.

This coming week the boys will participate at the second World Cup in Dordrecht in the Netherlands.

Live racing can be seen on Saturday and Sunday from 14:00 on http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/isu/ or via the Eurovision app on Apple or Android.

Summer also saw Julie, Jimmy and Marco Kiesgen participate in the Oberstdorf summer camp for the first time.
