Luxembourg speed skaters Jimmy Kiesgen, Julie Kiesgen and Marco Kiesgen all set personal bests in the Beneluxcup Final, which took place in Nijmegen (Netherlands) on 10 March 2018.

Last Saturday’s Beneluxcup Final saw personal bests for all three Luxembourg speed skaters over both the 500m and 1000m races. In the Pupillen Div A (U14), Jimmy Kiesgen placed 4th out of 21 participants, with a PB time of 52.083s in the 500m, and Julie Kiesgen placed 8th out of 21, having done the 500m in 59.015s. In the Junior/Senior Div C, Marco Kiesgen came 2nd out of 8.

Other recent results include those of last month’s Beneluxcup-4 Liedekerke (Belgium), held on 17 February 2018. During this competition, Jimmy Kiesgen completed the 333m in 36.57 (PB), thus placing 5th/19 in the Pupillen Div A (U14). In the same category, Julie Kiesgen came 10th/19 and Elisa Aulamo placed 17th/19. In the Junior/Senior A division, Anna Ruysschaert came 7th/15), whilst Marco Kiesgen came 7th/8 in the Junior /Senior B division, with a PB of 2:19.37 in the 1000m.

Moreover, Caroline Murphy successfully placed 46th out of 65 participants in the ISU World Junior Championships, Tomaszów Mazowiecki (Poland), held from 2-4 March 2018. This is the highest position to date by a Luxembourg skater.

Finally, Julie and Jimmy Kiesgen and Elisa Aulamo will represent Luxembourg at the Dutch U14 Championships tomorrow in Utrecht, whilst Peter and Caroline Murphy and Augustin Géré have qualified to represent the country in the European Junior Championships in Ventspils (Lithuania) from 23-25 March 2018.
