Fallen Lies, winners of Rock the South 2017;

On Saturday 16 December 2017, Fallen Lies and A D R I Ʌ N were announced as the winners of Rock the South 2017.

The winners were announced at the finale of this year’s Rock the South, organised by the youth committee of the municipality of Pétange in collaboration with the SNJ (National Youth Service) Rocklab, 7FM radios, Ara Radio and Péiteng On Air. The competition, which is aimed at amateur rock bands and newcomers on the Luxembourg music scene, included an original line-up of four bands, which competed for the title of "best newcomer of the year 2017 ".

Having listened to the performances of the five groups- Insert Bandname (alternative, punk-rock), Deep Dive Culture (alternative, indie-folk), ADRIɅN (pop-rock) and Fallen Lies (hard rock, rock)- the jury selected the winner according to the following five criteria: originality of the songs, charisma and presentation, musical talent, contact and interaction with the public and promotion.

The jury finally decided to name Fallen Lies and A D R I Ʌ N as the two big winners of the evening. The former won access to a package worth €1,000 consisting of preparation by Rocklab Rockhal and recording sessions at Rockhalstudio. As tradition dictates, they can also perform at Rock the South 2018. The second winner A D R I Ʌ N will perform on the stage of the festival "On Stéitsch".

Sam Flammang, well known in the local Luxembourg music scene, who was part of the jury this year also offered a prize: a package for a photo shoot, which was given to Deep Dive Culture.

The Trappers, the winner of the year's contest, played late in the evening, followed by The Choppy Bumpy Peaches (2017 Screaming Fields Booker's Choice).
