The former National Museum of History and Art (Musée National d'Histoire et d'Art - MNHA) has changed its name to "Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart".

Up until now, the acronym "MNHA" had referred to both the cultural institute and the museum site located on Marché-aux-Poissons in Luxembourg-Ville.

With the recent amendment of the law reorganising state cultural institutes, the two structures have changed their names for the sake of clarity. Consequently, an "A", standing for "archaeology", was added to the abbreviation "MNHA" to exclusively designate the institute, now called the National Museum of Archaeology, History and Art (Musée National d'Archéologie, d'Histoire et d'Art - MNAHA). For its part, the museum is now known by its long-familiar name in Luxembourgish, Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart (national museum on the fish market/Marché-aux-Poissons).

The Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart is home to many objects and works, ranging from valuable historical artifacts to an extensive collection of coins and a choice of carefully selected decorative arts and works of art. The museum covers three areas to which the new logo pays tribute: archaeology, history and art. The permanent collection remains accessible free of charge.

The Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart is part of the parent company MNAHA, which manages the largest collection of archaeology, history and art in Luxembourg.
