During the 20th edition of the Invitation to Museums open days event, which will take place on 20 and 21 May 2017, members of the public are invited to discover the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions of 44 museums and art centres throughout Luxembourg.

Launched in 1998 on the initiative of the group "stater museumën" and extended for eight years to some forty museums in the Grand Duchy, the open days are a privileged moment to visit the exceptional museum heritage of Luxembourg and enjoy Of a rich and eclectic cultural offer.

From Clervaux to Rumelange, via Rosport and Beckerich, Luxembourg can boast a plethora of museums that are specialised in fields as diverse as history, natural sciences, iron and steel, art or traditions and customs of yesteryear.

The museums offer a varied cultural programme for the whole family, with guided tours, workshops, performances, meetings with artists, lectures, concerts, tastings and children's activities: a cultural mediation aims to raise public awareness and introduce it to cultural practice.

The 19th edition in 2016 saw 20,300 people attend the two-day event. This year, 4 of the 44 museums are participating for the first time (Centre Nature et Forêt Biodiversum, Valentiny Foundation, Musée régional des Enrôlés de force, Musée de la Sidérurgie).
