On Friday 1 July 2016, renowned driver Rainer Zietlow begun his journey on Goodyear Wrangler tyres with which he set the world record for the fastest drive from Magadan in Russia to Lisbon in Portugal.

Rainer Zietlow completed the Touareg Eurasia in 6 days, 9 hours and 38 minutes, totaling 15,200 kilometers alongside cameraman Marius Biela and journalist Peter Bakanov. Zietlow and Goodyear thereby set a new world record for the fastest drive from Magadan to Lisbon. The record for the same journey was previously 8 days and 12 hours.

According to Goodyear SA, Zietlow drove through seven different countries with different challenging terrains and weather conditions. Zietlow and his team were therefore very dependent on the Goodyear SA equipment in order to pull through.

“We wish to congratulate Rainer and his team on their new world record, they did it again! We are proud to have been a part of their success in this amazing voyage and have demonstrated that our tyres from the Goodyear Wrangler family were the best choice for Rainer’s endeavour” Alexis Bortoluzzi, Goodyear Marketing Director EMEA commented.

“We are extremely happy to have conquered Eurasia with this amazing time of 6 days, 9 hours and 38 minutes”: Rainer Zietlow stated. “I would like to express again my gratitude to all of my sponsors and partners, including Goodyear for providing reliable tires even for the harshest of road conditions. I would definitely choose Goodyear again for my next challenges.”
