The Luxembourg Technical Enquiries Administration today published an interim report on the train crash that took place on 14 February 2017, thus confirming both human and technical errors.

In its report from 19 February 2018 on the fatal collision last year- which resulted in the death of a CFL driver- the Technical Enquiries Administration claimed that there had been no signs of malfunction concerning the signalling and service station and the maintenance of equipment had been carried out according to regulations. The report added that the goods train involved in the collision had priority over the TER train and adapted its speed according to the signalling it received.

Nevertheless, some questions remain unanswered and so, two investigations are currently underway regarding the incident. The first aims to clarify why the emergency braking did not work, whilst the second aims to verify whether the CFL driver was using his mobile phone whilst driving at the time of the accident.

These findings supplement the first preliminary expert report published in March 2017.
