Negotiations between Banque Hapoalim and ALEBA have ended unsuccessfully for the instant.

At the end of November 2017, the banking trade union ALEBA announced a social plan at the Banque Hapoalim, which resulted in the job loss of around 30 employees.

Today, on 31 January 2018, ALEBA took part in the failed negotiations of this social plan, stating that “Despite all efforts made by the personnel delegation, despite the desire of ALEBA to find a respectable solution for all parties […] Hapoalim has decided not to concede, to stick to its position, wanting to imposing its ideas and conditions at all costs, and this is unacceptable for ALEBA.”

One such example, cited by ALEBA, was the bank’s refusal to “release dismissed employees during their departure notice”.

ALEBA also reiterated that employers have been targeting employees over the age of 50 in the context of this social plan.

The situation will be brought before the National Office for Conciliation and Demonstration at a meeting on Thursday 1 February 2018.
