The number of jobseekers in Luxembourg has decreased by 2.9% over one year, as of February 2018.

The number of available resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM amounted to 16,642 as of 28 February 2018. Over one year, this represents a decrease of 493 people, or 2.9%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC is 5.7%.

The decline particularly benefited job seekers under 30 (-8.7%) and low-skilled job seekers (-4.8%), whilst the number of long-term unemployed decreased by 5.7%. On the other hand, the number of jobseekers graduating from higher education rose by 179, or by 6.2%.

The number of beneficiaries of an employment measure was 5,062 at the end of February. Over one year, this represents a drop of 127 people, or 2.4%. Nevertheless, following the legislative changes that took place in August 2017, there were significant variations in professionalisation internships, where the number of beneficiaries increased significantly over one year, and compensated temporary jobs which saw their workforce fall by 32.9%.

During the month of February 2018, employers declared 3,121 vacant positions at ADEM, 170 posts or 5.2% less than in February 2017.
