Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, will participate in the ministerial week of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly from 20 to 22 September 2017 in New York.

The general debate of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly will be attended by a significant number of Heads of State and Government as well as Foreign Ministers of the United Nations Member States. In the framework of this session, Luxembourg Minister Jean Asselborn, will make his statement to the General Assembly on Thursday 21 September 2017.

Throughout his UN trip across the United Nations, Minister Asselborn will represent the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg at various high-level events, at which he will speak on the basis of the topics on the agenda.He will also participate in the conference on the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), the ministerial meeting on the crisis in Syria and the ministerial meeting on Iraq, as well as meeting with several special representatives of the UN Secretary-General, including Louise Arbor, who is responsible for international migration, Pramila Patten, who is in charge of sexual violence in conflict, and Virginia Gamba, who is in charge of sexual violence in times of armed conflict.
