On Monday 18 September 2017, the Bâloise Group in Luxembourg organised the third edition of its annual forum under the theme "Digitisation shakes up all sectors. How to reinvent oneself?"

Earlier this week more than 200 Luxembourg business leaders met at the Philharmonie du Luxembourg to attend the Forum Bâloise on the theme of reinvention during a time of digital transformation.

Romain Braas, CEO of the Bâloise Group in Luxembourg, kickstarted the event with his welcome speech before the economist and regular contributor to newspapers such as the Financial Times, Nicolas Bouzou, presented digitisation as an opportunity comparable in significance to the last industrial revolutions. According to him, the digital transformation will bring more creation than destruction.

To illustrate the subject with concrete experience, Patrick Kersten, Founder and CEO of Doctena then took the floor to explain the secrets of startup success. This was followed by a round table moderated by Xavier Roblin, Digital Baloise, bringing together five major figures from different sectors. Thus, Alain Rodermann, Manager of the Digital Tech Fund for Luxembourg presented this joint initiative with the Minister of Economy Etienne Schneider and actors from the public and private sectors such as University of Luxembourg, Arendt & Medernach and BIL to help finance start-ups in Luxembourg.

Following this, Olivier Risse, Senior Vice-President of satellite company Eutelsat explained how the satellite sector has progressed in the face of digitisation, and invests heavily to enable the passenger's permanent connectivity in the air, maritime and land sectors.

Other speakers followed such as Laurant Weill, a digital entrepreneur in France, and the automotive suppliers, Alessandro Coda, Chief Technology Officer of CLEPA, who detailed the consequences of the double revolution of the automobile on the one hand, and the electric motor on the other. Finally, Brigitte Lepage, co-founder and co-manager de Numericall / WebForce3 presented the joint initiative of the Social Fund to highlight the human aspect of this topic.

At the end of these discussions, the participants were able to continue their view exchanges around a dinner cocktail.
