On Monday 19 September, Luxemourg's Minister for Sport, Romain Schneider, the Mayor of the Ville de Luxembourg, Lydie Polfer, and Simone Beissel, Sports Alderman, together with other digntaries participated at the official sod-turning ceremony of the new national football and rugby stadium that is to be constructed in Luxembourg-Gasperich.

Built on a site between the Cloche d'Or site and Kockelscheuer, the new stadium project involves the construction of a football / rugby stadium comprising a pitch with 9,385 spectator seats, VIP areas, food kiosks, a business club with kitchen, rooms and premises for the press, locker rooms and all its ancillary functions, as well as the development of the surroundings.

Most of these functional premises are housed in a three-storey building within the stadium next to Boulevard de Kockelscheuer. The stadium envelope consists of diamond-shaped metallic facade staged by an illumination with varied scenarios.

The stadium will be built in accordance with current standards, especially to FIFA / UEFA standards (stadium category 4 which requires 8,000+ seats) and to International Rugby Board (IRB) standards.

The budget is €60,358,250 (including tax). The project is subsidised by the Ministry of Sports based on 70%, capped at €40 million. In addition, the carpark facility (€792k) is being paid by the Ville de Luxembourg.

Work is expected to finish in October 2019.
