OekoStroum Weiler has thanked the inhabitants of Wintger for their contribution of €1,000,000.

OekoStroum is the first wind farm operator in Luxembourg with a fixed rate of return on citizen participation. With a remarkable sum of €1,000,000, the inhabitants of the municipality of Wintger have joined the company Weiler Wand and OekoStroum Weiler.

As a sign of gratitude for the contributed sum, OekoStroum Weiler has presented an honorary certificate to the mayor Marcel Thommes, in the presence of the Secretary of State for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, Camille Gira, and Managing Director of Weiler Wand, Paul Kauten. The service agreement between Weiler Wand and OekoStroum Weiler was also confirmed.

After initial start-up difficulties, the OekoStroum Weiler project was successfully launched at the end of December 2016 with seven wind turbines. The inhabitants of the village are now fully behind the company, with more than 200 guests having joined us to reaffirm their support. The offer to the citizens of the municipality to participate in the project financially, received a huge response. The company Weiler Wand coordinated the investment of one million euros. In just a few weeks, 48 ​​parties were acquired, which acquired 400 shares in the capital. For its part, the company Weiler Wand initiated a service contract with Oekostroum Weiler. This guarantees citizens a fixed return of 5% per annum on the invested amount over a term of 10 years.

"The citizens of the municipality of Wintger are the heroes of the day and that is to be celebrated," Paul Kauten praised the initiative of the investors. "For most, the investment is not just financially motivated. It is above all an expression of the support for a modern environmentally-friendly technology and for a sustainable future. "
