From 10 to 13 July 2017, the Grand Ducal Court organised visits to the Grand Ducal Palace for pupils in cycle 4 of primary education.
For the seventh consecutive year, in collaboration with the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO), the Grand Ducal Court held visits of the Grand Ducal Palace for pupils aged 10-11 in the final year of primary school.
The main objective of this initiative is for young people to discover a building with a rich historical past and where the official activities of the Head of State are still largely carried out today.
After the reception of the students by a staff member of the court, an official guide of the LCTO accompanied the young visitors through the palace where they were invited to discover how the Luxembourg monarchs live and work, how life takes place in a palace, in which hall official activities and receptions take place, as well as cultural and artistic aspects such as artworks and the decor.
As part of their traditional "end-of-school excursions", a total of 29 classes from 28 different schools, nearly 814 pupils and teachers, discovered the Grand Ducal Palace and the temporary exhibition "1817- 2017 Bicentenary of the birth of the Grand Duke Adolphe | a "luxembourgeois" of heart and soul" before its official opening to visitors in summer, from 15 July to 3 September 2017.
